Hi Guys,

I have a machine that doesn't have a CD drive here, I have been trying to install Proxmox VE from a USB thumb drive (tried dd) but it won't boot into the installer ..

Any ideas on how to achieve that ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Guys,

I have a machine that doesn't have a CD drive here, I have been trying to install Proxmox VE from a USB thumb drive

use an external usb CDROM drive.

There are quite a few tools to help to do this, but what I've found is even when they do work there's sometimes an issue of the USB drive the OS is installed from, once removed, ends up creating an offset in your disk naming (ie. sda, sdb, sdc, etc.), and the installation doesn't boot anyhow.

With that, I've found it to be worth-while to make use of an external USB CDROM as dietmar suggests.
The resulting lack of hassles is worth it.

yes, we already added this to our todo list (later 2.x)
