Import Proxmox 4.4 Containers and VMs to Proxmox 5.2

Hello,

I would like to migrate my LXC-Containers and VMs of my current Proxmox 4.4 server to a new server running Proxmox 5.2. Can someone recommend me the most simple way to do this? I thought about 2 strategies:
1. Create snapshots of my containers and vms and import them to the new server. Is that possible (because they run different proxmox versions) or do I have to update the old one first?
2. Create a server cluster and migrate them to the new node?

I could not find any clear resources on that case and hope someone can give me some advice here.

Just do a backup/restore.
