Hi,
Thank you for PBS which is an excellent product.
I have some improvement ideas though:
  • one easily forgets the content of CTs or VMs. It would be useful to manage them in PBS interface using their names, along with their CTID.
  • I am puzzled (and a bit worried) with a feature of PBS: when you delete a CT in Proxmox VE, it also gets deleted in PBS storage. Ths is really dangerous as PBS should be a last resort safety against bad manipulations in Proxmox, notably deleting a CT...

You can add a comment to each backup so you can identify your backup.

No, backups will NOT be removed when you remove the VM or container. check again.

#2: my impression was that, since Proxmox recycles CTIDs, older backups of a node with the same CTID would be deleted.

#1: where do you add the notes? Here is a screen copy of what I see when I click on the backup central storage:

I cannot figure out where I add notes in this interface.

I also checked the central control panel of backups, at the Datacenter level (Datacenter > Backup) and I can't figure it either:

And here is the dialog when I double click a line:

What am I missing here?

Best,
Stephen

A removal of a VM or CT via Proxmox VE interface will not remove the backup.

You cannot do it on all places (will be improved), see my screenshot.

OK, I understand, but this is not the way I backup my CTs and VMs: I use the central automated scheduling system, rarely the "one time backup" system.

Besides, even in the one-time backu, there is no input to add notes while launching the backup:
