IBM and Proxmox

Unfortunately we still have no IBM flex server here in our testlab for certification but as its certified for RHEL I do not see too much problems.

Absolutely YES ! I've just installed 3 IBM blade servers (different model: storage, blade and chassis).

Proxmox 2.2, 2.3 and 3.0 works fine on IBM blade !!!!
I configure multipath on IBM storwize (FC -> Emulex 8gbps) and on another model multipath on SAS LSI controller

Hello Dea,

Thank you for your answer.
Did you work with a HA (High Availability) configuration in that server? we have read that its necesary a NAS, its correct?

Yes, all IBM blade that I configured are on HA.
You must at least use 3 blades or (but I do not recommend it) 2 blades *AND* a quorum disk (for example on a NAS).
I recommend to use al least 3 blades in the chassis and an IBM storewize SAN (I love this SAN, is fantastic) linked with 2 FC (Emulex 8 gbps) for a single blade (you must use multipath).

I use a separate NAS for backup (NFS over merged 1 gbps NICs).

Dear Luca
Great news. thank you very much for this information. We are considering Flex plus Storwize for our Proxmox Environment. This is terrific.
May I ask another question: what is the basic disadvantage of having only two nodes?
Regards
Frank

Best regards,

Is possible that Proxmox VE 3.o works on a IBM Blade server? (http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/flex/chassis/bto/index.html)

IBM named this server Flex System

thanks,

A real HA cluster requires a quorum to determine which node is not operated. You can add a quorum disk, but this in an hibrid solution.
I suggest to use at least 3 nodes.

Hi all
I can confirm that PROXMOX is perfectly running on IBM Flex System Enterprise (latest x240 Node). Rlease 3.1-21.
Just create a USB key as perfectly explained here: http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_from_USB_Stick.
Wenn booting up, F1 to the System Setup and add the front panel USB als Boot Device, and here you go.
We will be using it on several nodes with a Storwize 3700 and a EMC VNX5100 SAN Storage.

Frank

I'm receiving a similar configuration as a donation:

- 1 x Flex Chasis
- 2 x EN2092 1GB integrated switch
- 7 x 240M4 nodes
- 1 x EMC VNX5200

I'd like to build a HA cluster over this platform, any recomendation about network and storage configuration.

As it's a new system and I think it will take me a month to have it completely configured, Is a bad idea to start with proxmox V4?

Thanks for your comments

Now I've configured Boot Disks as ZFS and FSYNCS/SECOND is now 935, quite bigger, Is that better?
