How to setup a remote PBS?

I would like to sync a local PBS to a remote PBS. What have I to do? Do I need a wireguard/VPN site-to-site connection, or is it possible to just open a Port on the router firewall at the remote site?

The API is on port 8007, so it should be enough to open that.

If I understand it right PBS communication will use the same port as the webui so you would need to use a VPN then.
