how to nat VMs to the outside world

I am running proxmox on a local server. All my VMs are of the 10.0.1.0/24 subnet. How do I NAT my VMs to allow access from the outside world? Where can I find a reliable guide for doing this? I have never done any NAT before.

NATting the VMs is not the challenge - as long as the Router is configured to nat the subnet, the VMs get out. I guess what you mean is how to get in from the internet to those VMs. Dyndns and from the router port forward your needed service ports to the VMs or for multiple http(s) webservers port forward 80/443 to a reverse proxy and from there on ProxyPass to the VMs (through http-header, different domains are possible).

we have a network configuration section[0] in the official docs. that might help you.

after that you can forward ports to your guests using iptables. like:

iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp --dport PORT_1 -j DNAT --to IP_ADDRESS:PORT_2
