Hello,

the default kernel during the normal ISO-installation is 2.6.18.
I need the kernel 2.6.32 for the installation, because the 2.6.18 don't detect the SATA-RAID on my Intel Server SR2500.
What I have to write at the boot prompt after the CD is booted?

Best Regards

the 1.5er cd does not contain 2.6.32. what sata-raid controller is that? can you provide details and a link that we got the complete story in this thread?

you can try:
2.6.24 install cd (1.4) and then upgrade to 1.5 with 2.6.32?

Hello Tom,

the server is an Intel SR2500ALBRP with a S5000PAL serverboard.
The RAID is enabled in the BIOS and is called "Intel Embedded Server RAID Technologgy II Version A.08.09161344I". It seems to be a software raid for the SATA disks.
The performance is very good!
I can install Fedora 12 with kernel 2.6.31 withtout any problems.

Your proposal to install the 1.4 version failes, the RAID0 (only for testing of course) has no device, but the two single hard disks are shown.

Best Regards

Edit:
In Fedora 12 with installation kernel 2.6.31, recognizing the RAID, the drives looks like this:
# blkid
/dev/sda: UUID="LSI €M-^F&M-^B" TYPE="ddf_raid_member"
/dev/sdb: UUID="LSI €M-^F&M-^B" TYPE="ddf_raid_member"
/dev/mapper/ddf1_4c5349202020202080862682000000004711471100001450p1: UUID="ad8aeb2e-88c6-4050-9ce4-e7d557747c9d" TYPE="ext4"
/dev/mapper/ddf1_4c5349202020202080862682000000004711471100001450p2: UUID="e1bd8cbe-43cb-4d70-b8d1-c9ecfa4eac5c" TYPE="swap"

Now I'm become clear about this.
It' an Intel Software RAID.
I know, that software raid generally is not supported in proxmox.
My last question: Intel Raid too?

I have same problem. Too new hardware. NIC not working and getting kernel panic :(

2.6.32 installer is easy solution.

Otherwise i need install debian testing and after proxmox.

please ask more detailed, what do you mean?
It's a SW-RAID called "Intel Embedded Server RAID Technology II", can be activated in the BIOS and is build on my server board S5000PAL and some other Intel server boards.
But in the meantime I think, it's the best to buy a card with real hardware raid.

yes, software raid is not supported due to many reason and there is no plan to change this.
