already enable the qemu ga option on web gui(u may check the pic1 below),
the error information should be" verify that you have sufficient privileges to start the system services " (check the pic2 below)
i dont see why cuz i am also administrator
i also tried different version iso image(virtio-win-0.1.173 virtio-win-0.1.189) still not work
any one could help?:p

Hi,

Maybe the latest VIrtIO drivers and tools don't work on Windows 7 anymore? Can you try an older version from https://fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/direct-downloads/archive-qemu-ga/ ?

seems still not work, but lower version with a different error report“a program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected”

attach file is log file of the installation
newlow with version qemu-ga-win-106.0.1-1.el9/ 2023-09-19 06:31
oldlog with version qemu-ga-win-7.0-10/ 2015-05-02 01:48 -

seems both of them with a same return code 1603?
MSI (c) (24:4C) [02:58:32:060]: MainEngineThread is returning 1603

it was reported that "The qemu-ga MSI from 103 installs and runs on w7 for me, checked with a clean sp1 VM. There may be something broken in your guest OS. Check the event logs and the guest agent log." here: https://www.reddit.com/r/virtualization/comments/126o9x8/comment/jebuym9/

First of all, thank you to my friends for sharing. I have encountered the same problem and am troubled.
I have found a simple method for me.
You can copy qemu ga on Win10, place it in the same directory, and use winsw.exe to turn it into a Win7 service.
The PVE virtual machine has obtained the IP address of Win7 and is able to control its shutdown.
