How to Clone a VM and Assign a Different IP Address to the Clone?

I hope you're all doing well! I’m relatively new to Proxmox and have been exploring its features. I’ve successfully created and managed a few VMs, but now I need to clone one of them. My goal is to have the cloned VM operate independently with a different IP address.
Could someone guide me through the process of cloning a VM and ensuring that the cloned VM gets a different IP address? Specifically:

1. What is the correct way to clone a VM in Proxmox?
2. How can I ensure that the cloned VM doesn’t inherit the same IP address as the original VM?
3. Are there any specific settings or configurations I need to adjust post-cloning to avoid IP conflicts?

Either the VM is using a DHCP client, then the clone will get a different IP configuration from the DHCP server because it gets a different MAC address.

Or you build a VM template that includes cloud-init and clone your VMs from that. Then you can set a static IP configuration from the Proxmox GUi that gets applied when the new VM boots the first time.

So, we're talking about a VM, not a LXC, right? The IP address config is done within the OS of the VM. You can't manage this in Proxmox. So, stop the origin VM, start the cloned VM and change IP config in the VM OS.

yes im talking about vm,if I understand right first I'll stop the origin vm and then configure the cloned vm but I dont know how to configure can you give steps.
