How to automatically remove backups from PBS when terminating VM from PVE?

Hey,

PBS+PVE default behaviour is that when a VM is terminated on PVE the backup will be kept on PBS, which is OK for some scenarios. At the same time this means that new users, that have the same VMID, will have access to other users data.

Is there any way to sync deletion on PVE with PBS? Aka when a VM is deleted from PVE it should be deleted from PBS as well.

no. you need to avoid VMID re-use in that case, or do your own lifecycle management that ensures any traces of the old usage is removed if that's what you want.

Got it, so the best scenario would be to avoid VMID re-use. Is there any "upper number limit" on VMIDS, for example 999? Thank you

yes, but it's quite big, IIRC 999999999 is the max.
