[SOLVED] How do I login

A warm welcome to the community, @Bloke.

I am really happy, that you joined this community to do it better than all those "SO MANY" others and are willing to extensively help many many people in no time from now on.
If you allow me, I would kindly suggest to start with the "Unanswered threads":
https://forum.proxmox.com/find-threads/unanswered

Welcome again and thank you very much in advance. It is really appreciated! :)
LOL That's literally just a variation of what anyone says when I bring the topic up. Again, you could just stay quiet. But no. You have to get your back up and start being a smart arse any time anybody questions your superior intellectual prowess. You make me laugh.

And once I'm confident in my abilities and understanding of Proxmox, and can communicate that in a clear and concise manner, I sure will be helping anybody I can - without the bullshit little snarky comments and put downs.

Have a nice day.

And now you're verballing me. Never said "everyone here". At all. You're just showing you have no emotional control - or the ability to stay on topic without adding little bullshit snipes. A perfect example of my initial comment, really. Cheers.

Please keep the tone civil here, we discourage everyone from passive-aggressive comments or disparaging speech. Especially as this creates a hostile atmosphere for newcomers. Thanks!

The login prompt should show you an address to connect to (something like https://192.168.178.34:8006 or similar). You need to open a browser on a different device and type that in. Make sure that other device is on the same network as you Proxmox VE host. From there, you should be able to log in with your root credentials and access the web interface.

I try using my ip address given to me on another device but is not working will I need to connect my USB that was use on my laptop to the other device to access the proxmox ip address

Proxmox does not have a "desktop". It is a server OS and is mostly managed remotely via the web browser or SSH. It also does not have DHCP enabled by default so you will need to set a static IP by editing /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/hosts. Pick an address that is outside of your server's DHCP range.

If you don't know what all that means, you are using the wrong product and should instead look at a desktop virtualization product like Hyper-V (Windows), virt-manager (Linux), or VirtualBox (Windows, Mac, Linux).

If you see the welcome message installation is done on the server (the Proxmox host).
You use a web browser (on another computer on the network) to configure and manage Proxmox VE (https://....:8006)
Do you see the welcome message on the Proxmox host ? What kind of device is the Proxmox host server ?

It was asking for my root@pve:~# and I don't know what next from there

Looks like you are trying to log into the console.
You need to add a screenshot or picture as it's not clear you are on the web browser.
Be more precise (so when you write "it was asking", it should be clear what "it" is )

Am fully stoked here i don't even know what next to do as it is asking for my root@pve:~#

That is the Proxmox host (The "server" at IP address 192.168.100.2).
You can log in there to use the command line, but that's not what you want.

To get the GUI, you need to use another computer on the network ("laptop"), open a web browser and type the above URL:
https://192.168.100.2:8006
Go past the certificate warning to get to the Proxmox VE Login:

The username is root, the password is the one you created during the installation.

The 192.168.100.2 is an indication that there is not working cabled network connection, and connecting for a different computer on the local network probably won't work. Most routers have DHCP and the Proxmox installed would have used it (although Proxmox does not support DHCP once installed!) if there was a working network connection. Lots of threads about that on this forum and how to change the network configuration to enabled remove management. There is also this other thread about this from @katebell060: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/from-the-login-process.172628/
