Bought switch and i plugged everything into switch so i can have faster local speeds. Now i can't connect to my local proxmox website interface. The ip address that worked before doesn't anymore. (And i think reason is because i plugged it into switch instead the router[which i used before i got switch])

WHEN I GO TO MY PROXMOX SERVER AND I BOOT I CAN SEE SOME GNU GRUB AND I CAN ACCESS CONSOLE WITH CTRL+C BUT NOTHING WORKS IN THAT CONSOLE. I CAN'T GET NEW LOCAL IP FROM THERE. NEED HELP ASAP.

PS: I HAVE INTERNET ON EVERYTHING INCLUDING THE VMS THAT WERE ONLINE AFTER I PLUGGED PROXMOX NETWORK LAN CABLE INTO SWITCH BUT I STILL COULDN'T ACCESS LOCAL INTERFACE SO I HARD RESTARTED SERVER (RISK OF CORRUPTING MY ALL VMS) SO I CAN SEE WHAT IS UP BUT SADLY NOTHING ON GOOGLE I SEARCHED HAS ANSWER- HOW DO GET TO CONSOLE FROM GNU GRUB BOOT SCREEN SO I CAN GET MY NEW LOCAL IP .

I am not quite sure
- what you did (just plug a network cable into a switch? then power-cycle the server?)
- what you expected to happen (??)
- what the current state of your system is (does it boot and VMs come up, but you can't reach the management interface? does it boot but nothing is available network-wise? does it not boot?)

in any case booting and logging in as root should work (although it might take a while), you can then query your IP with ip -c a. if booting doesn't work please post any error messages/warnings/logs that are printed on screen here (in [code][/code] tags)

Let me try to be more clear

Question: - what you did (just plug a network cable into a switch? then power-cycle the server?)

Answer: I just bought new switch because i was using router before this and my router lan speed is very slow so that's why i got switch and then i plugged everything from router to switch. When i swapped everything to switch and i checked on my main computer i clearly have internet, and also i have WiFi so i know for sure that i have internet. Then i tried to access https://192.168.0.102:8006 since that is my url for dashboard access and it says that i can't access it because request timed out - basically saying that i am trying to connect on domain that is offline so my assumption is that because i changed from router to switch i got new local ip that i need to use in order to access dashboard from browser again.

Then i wanted to know how to get the new ip from proxmox and i connected my server with monitor so i can see what is happening. Server boots normally and i have this screen and i can choose.

Now if i select first option the server will normally boot and then i can control it from local website(dashboard), since i dont know what is the new local ip i can't connect to it. Now my only option is to go to command-line and from there i need to log into rooot so i can then write commands as if i were to do it from browser from console. How do i log in as a root from command line from this GNU GRUB thingy?

Question: - what you expected to happen (??)

Answer: What i expected was to just simply plug LAN cables from my main computer and my second computer that has proxmox installed so i consider it as a server into my switch including the WLAN and then just simply continue using proxmox but with just much faster speeds.

Question: - what the current state of your system is (does it boot and VMs come up, but you can't reach the management interface? does it boot but nothing is available network-wise? does it not boot?)

Answer:My system boots as it should. It boots in "GNU GRUB" bios or whatever it is and then after couple seconds it automatically then selects first option which means that it will boot up proxmox OS so then i can go on local host and control it from there (from the dashboard whatever it is named). The system is working correctly i just dont know how to log in as a root from GNU GRUB in order to get my ip.

Please keep in mind that the GNU GRUB boot image is from internet but it's pretty much the same as if i were to take picture from my phone.

okay, there seems to be some confusion regarding basic operations and terminology.. I assume the following is the case
- your router previously provided a DHCP server serving the 192.168.0.0/24 range (or some subnet of that)
- your switch is not connected to the router
- your "main computer" is connected both to the switch (with a cable, maybe not setup correctly on the software side) and to the router/internet (via WLAN)
- your "second computer"/PVE host is connected to the router (with a cable, and a static network configuration)
- your main computer tries to reach the PVE host over WLAN, which obviously won't work

I think what you maybe missed to do (but this is just guess work given the limited amount of information I have!) is to connect the switch to the router (depending on what the switch actually is and what features it supports that might require some config on the switch side), so that
- your PVE system is connected to the router and internet again
- your main computer can talk to the PVE system again (either via WLAN -> router -> switch -> PVE or via LAN -> switch -> PVE)

I think my problem is that i have to use POE injector and the LAN goes into router's WLAN so i can have internet while the CPE can get power from the POE and so antenna/CPE can work.

Now i need to understand what i need to do in order to make it work. I have 1 LAN that comes out of POE which goes into WLAN of the router.
Then the lan of main PC and lan of server are connected with router LAN ports and everything works, my internet on main pc works, i can connect on local host website interface and also server has internet. Everything is good!

Now after i got switch i came across a problem which i don't know how to solve because literally the weakest part of my knowledge is networking so i will try my best to explain and hopefully you can help me.

When i got switch i got confused because the POE LAN cable goes into router's WLAN and i don't know how to connect it with switch too.
If i understood correctly THE switch needs to be connected from router WLAN to SWITCH lan port and then the rest in this case my main pc and server to be connected so my first and second computer[server] can have internet and be together on lan so local host can work.

But i can't do that because my POE injector has only 2 ports/slots. One for CPE/antenna and other for LAN which goes into router's WLAN port.

What solution i tried was to plug my first and second computer into switch then POE lan cable also plugged into switch and then i took another lan cable which i plugged into router's WLAN but no luck. I also have tried to plug it into LAN instead WLAN but it's even worse because i dont have WIFI that way, but when i plug to WLAN i have working wifi including both servers have internet but localhost doesn't work...

These screenshots should help you maybe. And then imagine that instead router i try to do the same with SWITCH in similar way (i tried to explain above). Please note that i am really noob when it comes to networking but google can help however i don't know how to google this.. I don't know terminology...

EDIT;PS: And i apologize for this random username i was in rush while being really uspet and mad. Now i am calm.. I am mostly chill and patient person but sometimes i have times where i get really upset for short period of times and reason is because i come to dead end where i can't find any proper answer.

EDIT2: I think i need to get POE Injector with 3(+2) total ports so i can have 1 POE port which is being used to power CPE and then i have TWO left. ONE for SWITCH and SECOND for ROUTER WLAN. Would in that way work or not? This is so hard yet probably simple for some of you. Just like someone figured a wheel...

EDIT3: I have Mercusys - Mercusys MS108G 8-port switch - https://www.mercusys.com/en/product/details/ms108g

Update: Seems that i solved it by buying new LAN cable and trying again. Everything is same regarding POE and the LAN POE cable goes to WLAN of the router and then i have one cable going from router's LAN into switch and everything else is connected on that switch and works.

Just tested speeds via FileZilla copying some bigger file just as a test and the speed is there.

However i am wondering only about one thing, why are my speeds not the same speed when i transfer files with RDP/Anydesk etc(Windows)? Everything is on LAN, could be because it still goes through my rotuer which has sadly limitation of 100 Mbps? How can i "tell" it to use switch for such transfers? That's one of the main reasons why i bought switch at first place.

great that you solved your cabling issue - and the resulting setup looks okay to me:
Code:
4G uplink box <- POE injector -> router WAN
Server -> Switch -> router LAN
PC -> Switch -> router LAN

I am not sure from where to where you are copying in your two tests and whether your PC is now connected both via WLAN (directly to the router) and via Ethernet/LAN (via the switch). If it is, you likely want to disable the WLAN connection (at least while you are connected via the Ethernet cable) to ensure everything goes over the switch.

Thank you for giving me support.
First test was done via FileZilla. It was basically a file transfer. It's exactly the same as if i were to upload ISO from my main computer to server from web interface under "ISO Images" tab.

On first test i was copying files from /var/lib/vz/template/iso and that's the place which isos are stored, reason being is because they are bigger files so i can see consistent speed and it's fine.

On second screenshot i basically connected via RDP and copied same Windows iso file from main computer and pasted inside that RDP (Machine) which is hosted on the same server. However the speeds was only 100 Mbps which tells me for some reason the file transfer via RDP / Anydesk or any Remote Access Software is slower is because the transfer is going through my router instead switch. I need to. I will have to see how to disable WLAN cable so everything goes through switch.. All i have is 1 LAN cable going from switch into Router's LAN's while WLAN is untouched and everything else is connected in switch's LAN.

Hey,

speeds are differents between ftp /rdp because FTP is dedicated trasnfert protocol, that's not the case for RDP. RDP priorise your user access, and give you the opportunity to serve files with drag-and-drop, but not make for that initialy ^^
