Hi there,
I'm new to Proxmox but not KVM, having previously used it on an Ubuntu host. I now decided that Proxmox is a much better fit for me as most of the setup is already there, but I have a few specific questions on the initial install if anyone would be so kind as to help me out please. For reference, I have a HP Microserver which i will use with this. I have 4 x 2tb drives, 1 x 1tb drive and 1 x 250gb drive i could potentially use in this, but will likely use 4 of the 6 as thats all that fits.
1) When I install Proxmox, I'm assuming it will take up the whole of the drive I choose?
2) Does this mean this is wasted space, ie, I cant use it to host VMs, or store ISO files?
3) I plan to use the system to host 4 or 5 VMs for differing purposes. Is it recommended to give them each a physical drive (so one of the 2tb drives)?
4) Can I assign one drive as shared storage where all the files are saved (media etc) so that all the VMs can access it?
5) Would I be able to take advantage of any raid setup?
Many thanks everyone!
