Hardware Tab missing from VM configuration web interface

A few days ago I updated from 1.6 to 1.7. There were no anomalies until I attempted to add another network card to one of my VMs when I noticed the hardware tab was gone. I found a few threads but they all seem to center around the storage.cfg file in /etc/pve and NFS backup storage, but there is no such file on my system. So I'm at a loss on what caused that configuration page to disappear.

If I need to provide more info to aid in troubleshooting this, please instruct me as to what commands to run and I'll post the results. Or if this is a well known issue, can someone post the appropriate thread/fix to apply.

There is no hardware tab for containers. This is only needed for KVM guests. (this never changed since 0.9 beta ...)
