Guest OS does not see additional disks

Greetings,

I attempted to setup both a FreeNAS and Openfiler installation as a VM on Proxmox 1.5. The install and booting work fine; however, additional disks added to the VMs are not seen by the guest OS. I have rebooted both VMs with no success. I also tried a combination of Virtio, IDE, SCSI using RAW and qcow2 to no avail. Any help is greatly appreciated.

reboot is not enough - you must stop the vm and start again.

Apologies. By reboot I meant I stopped and started the vm using the web ui.
