Hi all.
Something strange happened and wanted to know what this means.
After our server went to a almost halted state, I noticed that in our log files we got a line in our log that stated ntpd 6135 synchronized to 209.114.111.1, stratum2. Does this mean our system may be compromised? Right after this code we noticed that the server almost went to a crawl speed, like something was conflicting.

Then after I shut down the server and restarted we noticed this in the logs.

Nov 18 09:05:41 kernel device vmtab101i0d0 entered promiscuous mode
Nov 18 09:05:41 kernel vmbr0: port 5(vmtab101i0d0) entering forwarding state
Nov 18 09:05:41 kernel device vmtab101i0d1 entered promiscuous mode
Nov 18 09:05:41 kernel vmbr0: port 6(vmtab101i0d1) entering forwarding state

Can someone please tell me what this all means?

Thanks

I noticed more of the synchronized to (ip address), stratum 2 in our syslog again after a reboot.

I was just making sure that this is normal.

Hi,
the ntpd (network time protocal deamon) adjust the system time again your timeserver show the first entry.

the other are messages about new networkdevices to a bridge:
vmbr0: port 5(vmtab101i0d0) -> first nic (d0) of VM101 was added to bridge vmbr0. (d1 is the second nic).

Use "brctl show" for better understanding.
