Built a machine for the purpose. ROG STRIX B550-F, Ryzen 7.
First attempt to install I tried pve1.local for FQDN, and it gave me 192.168.100.1 for an IP.
Could not log in with browser.

Did some research, got into the BIOS and enabled SVM, as default is disabled, and reinstalled Proxmox.
For the FQDN it suggested something with a dot Home, and I did pve1.Home - which generated 192.168.0.35
and I took it. My router limits the open IPs at 35, that may mean something.

hard reboot of router and
log in at https://192.168.0.35:8006/ as I am prompted on the screen, and yields
The connection has timed out

An error occurred during a connection to 192.168.0.35:8006.

If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.

The only firewall I have is on my windows machines, and Ubuntu gives the same sort of fail.

This site can't be reached.
192.168.0.35:8006/ is unreachable.
ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE

In my DHCP Reservation List, CenturyLink ZYXEL C1100Z, 192.168.0.35 is in the list, last in the list.
But that IP does not show up in my Device Table.
Checking my firewall settings in the router, none of my port forwarding affects 8006 and IP address rules are set to Low.

I WOULD REALLY LOVE TO START CREATING SOME VMs.

Hello,
have you tried pinging devices on your network from within Proxmox?
If you have more than one Ethernet port on the Proxmox, have you tried pinging by changing the network port?

Hello, could you please share the contents of /etc/network/interfaces? As was already suggested it would be helpful to know whether you can ping the Proxmox VE server from other devices in the network and/or the other way around.

How did you set the 192.168.0.35 ip on your machine?

Hm, I hope I understand your config.....
First time your PVE host got an ip address from your dhcp server in a 192.168.100.0 subnet,
second time you say it is in 19.168.0.0 subnet...
How is this possible?
What is your actual LAN subnet?
