I'm going to install proxmox to HP ProLiant dl380 gen9, with 12x3.5" HDD, and 2x2.5" SDD in the back. The system is installed to SDD.
My question is how should I configure the 3.5" HDDs, with different configurations (file system; LVM, ZFS...), and which is the best configuration.

Configuration 1:
8x3TB sata HDDs + 4x8TB sata HDDs (srm).

Configuration 2:
8x3TB sas HDDs + 4x8TB sata HDDs (srm).

Configuration 3:
12x3TB sas HDDs

Configuration4:
Something else?

Is there any benefit to use the 8TB HDDs combined to RAID, or every HDD as an individual disk?
The srm disks should be used for backups etc., or what? I have a dedicates NAS system with 40TB disk space, in which there is about 32TB n use.
