What's the best solution to get a filesystem accepting qcow disk files, and snapshots when using a storage via iSCSI ?

The basic solution is LVM, but it's not possible to have snapshots neither qcow.

hmm - you can create a filesystem on a iSCSI Lun and export it via NFS (however the NFS server then is a new single point of failure) - maybe the SAN can do NFS as well?

depending on your iSCSI target - ZFS over iSCSI might be an option (if your iSCSI target is a Linux server or OpenSolaris or FreeBSD)

I hope that helps

The SAN is a HP MSA, so unfortunately no NFS...
The Proxmox nodes are connected to the iSCSI, but presented as a volume.

Then, the basic solution is to create a volume group and LVMs for the VMs disks, but won't allow QCOW and snapshots as it's block

I come from the VMware world, where you get the LUNs, and then create DS based on VMFS.
So ZFS over iSCSI would be the closer equivalent ?

Hello!

I have same problem. Did you find solution?

I have a ready-made solution. I spent 3 weeks creating it and wrote detailed instructions.

If someone needs it, write here, I will translate it into English and send it.

I don't post it right away, because I need several hours to translate the instructions, perhaps this is no longer relevant to anyone.

I would be interested... btw: have you tried www.deepl.com?
