During VM creation you are currently only able to use an ISO to create a VM, can you please add the option to use a vmdk file instead.

Thanks

Both are build-in already, on VM creation a ISO (tab OS) can be added and you can import a vmdk file (CLI) for a VM.

I have looked into importing a vmdk file via CLI but, its a bit longwinded and slow.

I think it would improve Proxmox to have vmdk as an option along side ISO in the GUI.

Because, vmdk are very widely used in both type 1 and 2 hypervisors, and having a quicker method of importing them would help.

The import converts the vmdk to the target disk image. Ofc, this can take some time.

When you add a disk, there is the option to create a vmdk disk, this disk can be overwritten by the disk that is intent for migration. This layer is only meant for compatibility and is not the most performant image type.

Yes, in the VMware world.
