If I want to backup a template from the template server to PBS, the backup fails, because the template has too many cpus defined.
This makes sense only if you want to run the VM, not if you want to backup it.
My template node obviously has less CPUs than compute nodes, but my templates are used on compute nodes and they are never started on backup nodes.

Bug report:
https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3352

as indicated in the report, this can be fixed for CPU and memory by just starting the template VM with low settings. in the meantime, you can actually just reduce the number of vcpus for the template (and potentially revert that change again after the backup - backing up templates daily does not make much sense anyway?)

Hi,

thank you for your answer.

Backing up of templates makes sense, because If the server where templates are goes down, I can restore them to another.
Sometimes I use replication for that. Sometimes both. Sometimes nothing. :-)

yeah - backing them up ONCE (initially, and then after you change something) makes sense. backing them up DAILY is useless busy-work iMHO.
