Can anyone tell me how to downgrade the kernel version Proxmox uses, and also how to download previous (or even newer) kernels?

I am new to this so might not be using the correct terminology, but hopefully you guys know what I mean...

Also, is there any list of the previous versions and/or changelogs?

A apt search pve-kernel will show you the available kernels in the repository.
You can install it with apt install pve-kernel-xxxx.
On the next boot you should be able to select the older kernel that you installed.

May I ask why you need this?

Thanks Aaron, I will give that a try.

I am having issues with passing through an LSI HBA to a VM on Proxmox running on HP MicroServer Gen8. I have seen a few threads where others seemingly have it working on previous versions so I’m doing a bit of trial and error to see where the issue lies.

I can confirm that eoan kernel 5.3 works and I can passthrough a PCIe device without any issues at all. The changes between 5.3 and 6.x seem to have broken something as we now have tons of posts daily that the community have a hard time trying to solve. That would be the starting point for the devs, to look at what has changed between the kernel versions and incorporate a system that makes passthrough a lot easier for us all.

I am not trying to revive an old thread, but I am also having issues passing through my Nvidia GTX 980, but when downgrading to 5.3.18-3 kernel, everything appears to be functional and working good.

Do you have any other issues related to restarting VMs? On a separate note, when I stop a VM with PCI passthrough, I have to reboot my system in order to start it again. Trying to start it without a reboot results in a very lengthy stall followed with errors.

I have experienced this too. It seems it has something to do with not un-associating the device from VM so when starting again the device is already in use (if that makes sense). That is something I spent hours trying to solve and not quite sure what the solution was, but a recent update has rendered one of my VMs useless so I will probably need to start again anyway :(

Can anyone help, how to downgrade to 5.3.18-3 kernel step-by-step.

Code:
uname -r
5.13.19-2-pve

I also have problem with Intel GPU passthrough, Broadwell.
