I would like to make some of my VM's accessible remotely. When I rented VPS's in the past i got access via an address like vps1058.178.133.22.68 (random example).

Given I only have 1 IPv4 atm, how could I do something similar? For example machine 1 would be reachable with SSH via m01.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:22, machine 2 via m02.xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:22 etc.

And how is this process usually automated by VPS providers?

I tried finding a solution online but I don't really know the terms I'm looking for (static routing of a subdomain to a LAN address?). Would a Cisco course help me understand this better?

Hi
the Cisco basic CCNA is recommendable because the topics are general network concepts what you can use everywhere.
But there is no need in the internet there are hundreds of good network guides for basic knowledge.
And the CCNA is also available as Youtube ;-)
