DATASTORE SAS VOLUME NO SNAPSHOT

Hello,

We have set up a SAS storage array with two Dell nodes and configured multipath, but I can only mount the volume using LVM in a shared mode within the cluster. The issue I’m facing is that I’m unable to create snapshots on this shared volume, and backups have to be performed in a suspended state.

How can I configure it to use LVM Thin Provisioning or a similar approach to enable snapshots and perform backups also in snapshot mode?

Hi everyone, I've been using VMware for many (many) years are in the process of trying to setup a small lab with one Lenovo server and a Dell MD3400 SAS SAN.

Proxmox is installed on the Lenovo server and sees my SAS cards.

When I run lsscsi I get the following:

[2:0:0:31] disk DELL Universal Xport 0825 -
[2:0:1:31] disk DELL Universal Xport 0825 -

Not quite sure what to do at this point and have mapped everything correctly in the SAN.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

You do not need storage snapshot support to perform backup in snapshot mode. The two snapshot technologies referenced here are not related.

You can not use LVM Thin as shared storage backend.
