Dark Mode Isn't

Upgraded from 8 to 9.1.6 (enterprise) several days ago. At one point shortly after updating I seem to recall finding myself in light mode, thought "oh it reset," and switched back to dark. Today dark mode doesn't seem selectable? Meaning, I can pick it, and Apply, and shift+reload the page, and repeat, and I still get the default/light mode:

If I open a private window in the same (Firefox) browser I can change modes. It doesn't look like there are any cookies to delete. Thoughts?

Is the package proxmox-widget-toolkit installed properly on your host? If you used something like nag screen removal script before that could mess with. Note that this package is required for dark mode to work as intended. You can also run debsums -c if everything is still setup as intended.

Well it works in a private window from the same browser to the same server. Other servers show dark mode OK if I switch. Maybe it's a Thursday, I could never get the hang of Thursdays.

We have a sub so no nag screens or any other setup scripts here.

dpkg -l |grep proxmox-widget-toolkit
ii proxmox-widget-toolkit 5.1.8

debsums -c has no output.

Feels like a cookie issue but the browser shows only PVEAuthCookie.

edit: I mean it's not the end of the world, it's just weird.

Hm interesting, so it's working as intended now? Do you have anything between your and server that could block certain requests? For example, maybe an ad-blocker accidentally blocked the request for the dark mode style sheet? Just a hunch, though. Not sure what exactely could be going wrong here, since to my knowledge nothing in how we handle the dark mode has changed recently.

Yes. I don't understand either.

Today I opened Firefox, checked (already showed the dark theme), and found it has a cookie "PVEThemeCookie" which wasn't there yesterday. Apparently for some reason it wasn't being saved. No idea why.

Usually I leave the browser open all day, and close when I leave. I don't recall closing it midday (but it's possible), so I don't know what would have changed between morning and afternoon yesterday.

Oh well, carry on. :) If it recurs I will know there is a cookie to look for.
