Hello.

We Installed a new VM for our customer, in the process we "moved" the customer data disk to the new VM. (detached the disk from the first VM, added it the in config of the second vm, via terminal)

Then we removed the first vm, that also removed all disk, even the detached one connected to the new running VM.

We are restoring from Veeam filebackup now, so not too much trouble. But it would be with a confirmation when deleting a VM, with a list (maybe a checklist you can choose) of what disks are going to be deleted :)

There is already a checkbox after someone want to remove a VM. Asking more than once does not really make sense to me.

Well I had this problem just now. 5.5Tb of data gone. As I shutdown the vm and detached the second disk (not where the vms OS was on, but only the data) and then removed the VM. Now all the content is gone on the detached disk... Great! This is not user friendly at all as this should be separated from the actual VM removal.

Due to this I unfortunately have to say that I am migrating to another hypervisor.

Yes. This should be reworked so it clear that all detached disks will be removed as well.

Tested with either VMware and XCP-NG and they have it NOTED or FAT printed on the screen that additional disks can be removed. They even give the option if you want that or not. Proxmox should do this as well and not just announce 'The VM will be removed', because that is in my opinion misleading. Proxmox good software, but has some flaws in terms of user friendliness...
