I'm totally new and try to understand the concept

Have disk of 180Gb in my ThinkPad M93p running Proxmox

I have installed from image, and now I have 2 disks.
1 with 40GB

2 with 99.4 GB

I played around and now the name is local data

1st) Question Where are the missing 40GB
40 +100 =140
Storage of the ThinkPad = 180GB

2nd) What is the best Configuration?

Have one disk with whole 180 Gb to store VMs CTs Snaphots & Backups

Or shall I divide them

I can't remember why there are now 2 disks!
I think I have a missconfiguration!

Pls advice
THX

1.) Could you post the output of lsblk? Typically the advertised storage size differs from the actual storage available. However, even accounting for this, 15-20% lower seems quite significant. Did you do any custom configuration during installation, or did you just accept the default?

2.) The Proxmox installer automatically creates a root partition, a swap partition, and a partition for VM/CT data. If you plan on keeping a relatively minimal system, you would probably be safe with 16gb for the root partition. Then assign 4GB - 8GB swap, depending on your needs and the rest for VM & CT data. See here for details regarding how to partition: https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/pve-admin-guide.html#installation_installer

I would specifically advise not doing this, as it makes it easier to accidentally fill up your entire system storage, which will lead to other problems.

NOW a messed Up everything!

Pls help to get a solid configuration on Proxmox.

I think
Create folders for
1) Backup NFS? -To store all backups from VM & CT & whole proxmox machine ?
2) VMs NFS? - To store VM machines
3) CTs NFS - To store CTs
4)Upload on Synology NFS - to store *.iso for creating VMs

What do you think?

Is something missing
YES where to store snapshots
1)VMs
2) CTs

Pls help

that it seems I have deleted
local-zfs
and wrongly created that
local.data as second LVM-Thin!

What do you think?

HowTo get back to default configuration (without a Backup!! :()
