Complex PROXMOX/Exchange 2003 setup

Hi,

In our company we have a mixed e-mail setup.

We receive our external e-mails from a dedicated server farm in Europe, where they map the original global address of the recipient to an alias mapped to our domains.
We have 6 domains handled this way.

Our outgoing mails are done by ourselves and through some MS Exchange manipulation, send the messages with the global address.

With the implementation of the PROMOX, this has posed some issues.

Would it be possible to have the PROMOX take over the functionality of changing the sender address?

Note: We have multiple MS Exchange servers which are connected via "Routing Connectors". This poses an issue with using a different port on SMTP internally.

Hi Stephan,

You are right, this setup is quite complex and and it will be the basis of many problems. Proxmox cannot take over the changing of the sender address.

Please keep in mind that this mail setup will cause many side effects in current and future spam detection systems.

Hi,

On the licensing, I am receiving mail on domain abc.com, sending mail on domain xyz.com.
I am assuming I need a license for abc.com. Will mail coming from xyz.com be seen as internal as it will be received by Proxmox on the internal IP port or external as it is not licensed?

I think I have found a solution for a multi Exchange server server, still busy testing.

Thanx
Stephan T.

Hi Stephan,
yes, you need a license for the receiving domain (abc.com).
you have to configure the outgoing email to point to the internal port and please add the IP/Host to the trusted list (see configuration/mail proxy/networks - internal trusted network).
