This is a quick post just to point to a Gist with a collection of scripts to assist with removal of `vmware-tools` post migration to pve.

These are all just minor refinements of the scripts found in other Gists which are given attribution in the scripts and Gists.
These should allow you to successfully uninstall the tools even if you did not uninstall them before migration. They also attempt to remove extra items that are still left behind by the uninstaller.

Note, it's unclear if either method could avoid modifying the hardware hash, as referenced in this comment.

Definitely, when I ran the full uninstallation and forced cleanup, my test Windows VMs lost their activation, so you may need to be ready to reactivate them. In an AD domain, your VMs should just get their licenses centrally and continue working fine. However, if any other installed software depends on these hashes, they could require updated licenses.
