Cluster 6 nodes mixture of prox 8 and 9 possible

Hello All,

would you suggest (i need to test 9 in production on one of 6 nodes) to mix in the cluster with Vitastor SDS 5 nodes staying on latest 8.4 and one going to 9?

Can i wait with PBS upgrade then?

Hi!

Mixing Proxmox VE versions in a cluster is not something we test against, except during the (hopefully brief) update procedure of the individual cluster nodes, so it's definitely not recommended to do that in a production environment.

I'm not very familiar with Vitastor yet except the recent maillist entry [0] from the main developer, but it seems like there is work underway to support Proxmox VE 9 soon. The EOL of Proxmox VE 8 is still very well a year away [1], but one way to test Proxmox VE 9 is to have a spare server where the current config can be replicated.

OK thank you for your answer, yeah Prox 9 is already supported by Vita but not widely spread. so i thought i do one node, since the test node i run already on Prox 9 doesnt carry any heavy load and failures normally dont come up in test clusters but under productions loads. well lets wait and then do it in some months. thank you
