I would like to move from boot single disk to the recommended default mirror and also switch to UEFI while i am at it.
Setup:
- 1 drive with BIOS boot, Grub, LVM/pve-root
- 4 drives in ZFS as storage for all VMS
- 2 new drives as new root
Considering I don't have storage/backup server to backup all VMs on themselves, here's my current plan:
1. Shutdown the machine gracefully and check my current boot drive still working as fallback.
2. Shutdown again, remove all old drives, switch to UEFI and insert new drives.
3. Install 7.4 via USB.
4. Copy /etc with exception of /etc/pve/storage.cfg.
5. Edit storage.cfg manually from old and new configs.
6. Copy /home.
7. Shutdown, reinsert all raid drives.
8. Restart and see if everything still works.
A second look from someone more experienced would be highly appreciated.
I'm with a student club, so not really a professional. If there is something very obvious stupid, please feel free to mention it anyways.
Greetings!
