On my windows 7 guest i can only select 4:3 resolutions. Can i update a driver or something to make 16:9 resolutions available as well?

Use 'Std VGA'

Sorry, i don't get this. I entered both 'Std VGA' and 'Standard VGA' in de vmid.conf file. Also tried to put 'args:' in front of it. But inside the windows guest when i try to change the resolution all i see for the recognized monitor: general non-pnp monitor on standard-VGA adapter' and the resolutions i can select are: 1024x768 or 800x600. But i would like some widescreen 16:9 or 16:10 resolution.

on the admin gui, just go to 'Options' and 'Video Graphics Adapter:' - select here 'Standard VGA'. you need to stop and start again your windows VM. Now, you can set the needed resolution - no extra drivers needed.

Re: driver for standard vga?

Hello,

i switched my xp vm's also to Standard VGA for higher resolutions.
Now i can setup them but Hardware-Manager ask's for a driver, anyone could tell me which driver i need to use for this option ?

Re: driver for standard vga?

as far as i remember you do not need a driver, just ignore the request for a driver.

mh okay, coz i had some BSOD's after switching to Standard-VGA and wanted to eliminate this *possible* issue with a correct driver.

I will try to monitor with and without this setting.

Thanks for reply.
