I need to use a software in a vm that is locked to the mac address of the network card. My license exist for the mac address of the physical network card, but setting the same mac address for the vms virtual NIC, means that it will not get access to the internet :(

I don't care of the mac address of the proxmox server (as I anyhow set a static IP for it), so can I in some way change the mac address for the proxmox server and in this way be able to use that mac for my vm?

Is there another way to be able to use the mac address of the physical machine for my vm and also have network access :)

you will have to play with "hwaddress ether 00:11:22:33:44:55" within /etc/network/interfaces to replace your PVE nic MAC and change the MAC address within your VM or LXC Container settings.
