ceph - added pool, can not move kvm disk to it

Hi,
with the restart I have looked on an non-pve-host. on pve it's someting like:
Code:
service ceph-mon.0.1485266387.930482921 restart
there are two numbers - the higher one is the right one.

This may seem like a stupid and obvious question - but did you set up the keyring after you created the new pool? Read back through the thread and can't see any mention of it...

that is it. it is perfectly OK to need to do that. i've seen requests that it b automated, i do not know how to code that, i'm sure the devs are working on other things .

PS: do you eat pork/bacon pork chops? or love pigs as pets . I know a group of hunters out shooting for pork chops and could send some along with bread for the help

Glad I could help.

BTW, you didn't actually need to build a new pool to increase the number of Placement Groups after adding OSDs. You can always increase the number of placement groups in a pool - you just can't decrease them. You also can't do it inside the Proxmox GUI, at least AFAIK.

From the command line: Ceph odd pool set <pool_name> pg_num <new PG value>.

As for your last question - I just think pigs are cool.

I have baby sat for a friends pig pet. it was the best couch cleaner we ever had. my kids would drop food in couch. dogs are ok for floor. pigs can dig deep and eat .

the move works now.

So I'll need to remember to do the key thing. storage is so much easier then the old days. fdisk , mkfs* .

Udo - thanks for the tips.
i'll make admin ceph notes wiki sub page.

question: so I plan to have 2 pools

do my page group calculations seem OK? I'll be doing the changes overnight.:

I'll have 2 pools:
size/min 3/1 : data
2/1: appliances and LAN data backup.

for 10 OSD's 3/1 placement group calculation.

I thinkk we need 512 PG for 3/1 10 OSD:
Code:
 Replicas: 3/1
osd pool default size = 3
osd pool default min size = 1

 10 * 100 / 3 = 333 ,
  power of 2 round up = 512 . # https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_of_two
