Any reason why:

1. There is no Centos 6 openvz template available in proxmox 1.9 although they are available on the openvz website? Especially when even after renaming the downloaded template it still fails to upload to the proxmox interface?

2 and most of the proxmox template seem to be only 32 bit?

Hello,

I'm using several Centos 64bits template from Openvz with no problem on Proxmox 1.9, be careful when rename it : for me -> centos-6-standard_6_amd64.tar.gz and everything is OK.

Bye.

Oh I noticed that my issues even after renaming was that I was still using x86_64.

Proxmox should be clear saying that for 64bit the architecture has to be named amd64 and not x86_64.

no one said that you should use x86_64, so what is your question here? Feel free to add documentation on the wiki.

Well this is an issue you should fix. I was not able to add the centos 6 openvz template unless I renamed x86_64 to and64.

the problem is that no one said this should be done, yet proxmox fails to accept the upload unless this is done.

So either proxmox need to be fixed or this needs to be documented somewhere.

hisaltesse,

you do not understand open source. if we would have a commercial support agreement, we would accept that you request that we solve your issues.

but you use our software for free, take our support for free and make money with it. so far no problem. but please stop telling us what we should have to do, instead learn how open source works and if you are asked to help in documentation, just do it instead of telling someone else to do it for you for free.

so please think what you can do for the project instead of telling other what they have to do for you.

Mh... I'm very new to proxmox and think I won't recommend it any further within my article. Not the usual way how to deal with user questions which do some good advertising for you by mouth. All I have learned the many years I work with opensource software is the essentiality of high quality documentation (go and look for projects like openBSD, ArchLinux, LinuxKernel itsself,...) and a great community on the other side. What a pity that's not the case with proxmox.

On the other side, that issue IS documentated (Oh wonder, huh?) here: http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Custom_built_template

Architecture
32-bit templates should use i386 for ARCH 64-bit templates should use amd64 for ARCH

But nice thing how to deal with newbie questions. :(

This seems to me just a matter of misunderstanding that often happens when writing instead of talking face to face. Sure with "you should fix" "hisaltesse" was not giving an order, and sure my experience is that Proxmox team "community" support is really very prompt, helpful and of high level.
And, finally, sure we all that benefit from it have to keep clear in our mind that "give back" is a must, monetary and/or helping with documentation/testing/code/whatever.
That said... peace, love and happy hacking :)

As you are new here its quite interesting that you already seems to know that we have no high quality docs and not a great community. Almost all others tell just the opposite.

yes, this issue is already documented and in fact its no issue at all. BTW, this user is not a newbie, already a member since 3 years. There are rules here and we ask our users to follow this suggestions to get the best output.
