Hi, maybe i'm just dumb and f*cked up the installation but i have a big problem, as said in the title PBS won't keep more than one backup of each lxc/kvm i've tried some different configuration but as soon as a new backup get in the older one is directly erased...

Or maybe the problem come from here :
The PBS is on kvm with nfs attached to it...

I'm waiting you and if you need more information say it. Thanks !

did you put anything else but zero on the backup storage config on the proxmox side running the backups? The "Max backups:" parameter on the cluster storage page. The PBS itself will not delete backups until you run prune jobs.

check
  • your prune settings on the datastore on the PBS side
  • the backup storage config on the PVE side (prune/max_files)
  • the vzdump config on the PVE side
  • the vzdump parameters on the PVE side
PBS does not clean up anything on its own directly after a backup job. vzdump has the option to do exactly that though, so it's likely your vzdump configuration (you should see it in the logs btw).

Hi, thanks for the reply.

but the problem is that on the backup option (on PVE) there is no "Max Backups" parameter like when we do a backup directly to a directory/nfsAnnotation 2020-09-15 083915.png

Well so, on the PBS side the prune settings is actually to all 7 (it's the last test i've done unsuccesfuly)
As you say it's probably on the PVE side, but i'm a bit confused about where these settings are, not in the gui i think but wich files is the configuration files for these type of change ?

It's on the storage page, not the backup page.
Yeah i just figured out... i'm dumb sorry.

My error was to configure the PBS storage for the cluster in CLI.... i totaly forget to add the max backup parameter... i hope that next person who read that will have the same dumb resolution....

Thanks you all for reply, you helped me a lot !! Have a good day
