Bounty: $50 us

Let me know if you find someone, I have a RH9 server with 'Hybodus monitoring' (Project stopped by owner) on it that needs to be rescued :p

I would like to pay someone to convert a few vmWare images to ProxMox VE.

The images are as follows:

1. zabbix
2. groundwork monitor

Kind Regards

We at Proxmox can build a Zabbix and also a Groundworkmonitor Appliance - for € 500 each (its about one day work per appliance). We will not convert them, we build them in the same style than our other appliances.

Why don´t you use the existing Proxmox VE Zenoss Appliance?

bounty still open

we can see if anyone else can do it - worth a shot.

In regards to zennos
I have never been able to get zennos to run.
I have used it elsewhere and not my favorite cup of tea either...

I just reloaded it yesterday
In shell attempted to do

apt-get update

and this is what I see

I tried again this am - still same thing

we cant update the pkgs per instructions provided in the wiki

any ideas?

The other reason we would like to see the zabbix and the other are pretty simple -

We already run them - and its easier to bring in the configs and logs and let them run w/o having to teach clients a new system.

did you give enough memory (512 ram, 512 swap minimum)?

I am not an expert in zenoss or zabbix or any other monitoring system so we try to provide the most wanted.

to summarize, we try to build your appliance wishes, but if you need it fast you need to pay. the whole team here is currently working on the final release of Proxmox VE 1.0, so very limited time for appliances.

understood

I understand - personally I would rather see you guys work on version 1.0

:)

thus the reason for the bounty being in the community - for anyone to pick up.

If it gets done - I would send it to you to offer out to everyone anyhow...

systems have 1024/1024 so that should be more than enough

still getting failed to connect

we still get the dreaded failed to connect as well

Failed to Connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at x.x.x.x:8080

We have tried this on a proxmox cluster here in the States as well as one in the UK we operate.

no worries -

No I got it. As described in the wiki the first start takes time. During the first start there is an apt-get operation.

so you have to wait several minutes (see the logs on the left for progress) to finish the apt-get and the start of the zenoss web server (8080).

if you do not wait, you cannot update your system via apt-get as it is locked by the initial process. and the zenoss web interface is not started yet, therefore you get nothing on yourip:8080.

ok - so here is the hardware

8 Core Xeon 2Ghz
16GB Ram

Been waiting on that apt-get since I wrote the last posting...

any ideas?

during startup apt-get installs the zenoss package. on my test machine (quad xeon with sata disks) this tooks about two minutes.

after this you can see the admin page on 8080 and now you can do the upgrade.

if this fails on your side, pls provide the logs of the first startup.

Tom -

strangest thing - fails.

I did our own build (figured cant hurt) and voila - works

how do we send our own openvz templates to you?

I have a few that would help the community @ large

cool, can you send me a download link (t.huber@proxmox.com)?
I would be happy to test it.

Zabbix 1.6 openvz template

Hi,

I just put into production a fresh Zabbix 1.6 on my system to control several servers which I am working on.
This installation is working (testing) for some days, I have no memory leak problems as reported on the Zabbix forum from some users.

So, the details:
- openvz container
- Ubuntu 8.04lts i386 with updates + added apt sources to get lot of packages
- working out of box (not certified by proxmox team)

The tar.gz template is <200MB.
The working system is less than 670MB, but of course, it will grow with the time, maybe drastically.

Cheers,
István
