I know its a bit strange request but this would make a instalation OS hardware indipendent.
This would actually make it possible to move a workstation from one computer to another as long as proxmox is installed.

To explain further, i want to be able to see the virtual machine on the monitor on the proxmox machine at boot.

I think I do not get you question.

Hardware independence is one of the main features of virtualization, and yes, you can see the boot process via the VNC console (KVM) or via the init-log (OpenVZ).

Sorry for not explaining properly.

What i are looking for is a simular feature HyperV2008 has where you can boot into the virtual machine on the same computer where you host hyperV.

So 1 computer with Proxmox where you at boot can choose to boot into the virtual machine direcly with out connecting from a other machine to access it.

I hope i make my self clear now.

sorry, don´t get it. send me the regarding feature explanation/docu from hyper-v

ok, got it. the "feature" is just booting a disk image file instead of the physical disk. why do you wanna do this in the context of server virtualization?

If you have many destop PC's with difrent software installed and many special instalation it would be fantastic to be hardware independent on not only a server but on a desktop aswell. Wouldent you also like to be able to move a file to a new computer and your personal computer just works on that new one?

that does not really work - your provided links shows that you need to run sysprep before you boot as a lot of configs are hardware dependent. therefore virtualization is used. your suggestion is just one step back in flexibility.

what you need is desktop PC with virtualization capabilities, e.g. (in this case the hardware is identical).

Well maybe not but if i buy 100 PC and configure 1, makes a image from this one and then move a disk image file to each one that could save me a month of work if not more. Not talking of my persaonal computer where it take a whole day to reinstall everything if i am to change computer. I think you could see my intrest of this feature.
Thanks for taking your time aswering.

you seem to be considering your physical pcs the same way as your virtual ones.
you might find something of interest by having a look at openqrm project.
