Hi All,
First time trying PBS so forgive the basic questions but I could do with some pointers.
This is for a homelab situation and not a production install, so time isn't an issue.
I have a couple of Proxmox servers, one of which has TrueNAS installed. This TrueNAS VM offers SMB shares as file storage and as backup destinations for Mac's etc. That all works fine but I've messed up the TrueNAS install (passing through disks etc) and need to move the data off onto another platform while I rebuild it correctly. I'm sure I'm not the first...and won't be the last.
To that end, I've installed PBS on an old machine and connected an LTO5 drive. I've created an small Linux VM on the smae physical host as the TrueNAS VM that mounts the SMB shares and then use proxmox-backup-client to back them up. All great and works fine. The issue...
I created a single Datastore and ran individual backups from the client machine, each time backing up an SMB share (Share1) to it's respective Share1.pxar. However, when I come to moving this off onto tape, the only options appears to be moving the entire Datastore/Host/x rather than giving me the option to select an individual backup acrchive file (x.pxar) aka an SMB share, to send to tape. So I've clearly missunderstood the basics...
I would still like to keep the original SMB shares as seperate archives and tapes. Should I be creating a Datastore for each share or is the another way?
Thanks in advance,
Scott
