Hello,

my recent issue regarding backup to CIFS is that the backup never finishes, it just gets stuck without any error or log message. The issue is most likely on the PVE side.

As example the following VM was backed up:

disk-size: 120G
regular backup-size (lzo): 21,5 G

The backup is issued over NICs connected to openvswitch.

Hi,

Did you see anything in the Syslog/Journalctl during the backup time?
it's the backup works on the local/another storage?

There is something:
kernel: CIFS: VFS: \\123.123.123.123 sends on sock 000000006cdf8c22 stuck for 15 seconds
kernel: CIFS: VFS: \\123.123.123.123 Error -11 sending data on socket to server
kernel: CIFS: VFS: \\123.123.123.123 has not responded in 180 seconds. Reconnecting...
From then that reconnecting happens every 180 seconds.

I forgot to answer the second question. Backing up to a local storage is working without any issues.

Hi,

So then the CIFS storage has an issue, may you post the content of the `/etc/pve/storage.cfg` file?
When you run the journalctl -f for example did you see any sys error?
Have you unmounted the CIFS and re-mounted it again on the PVE?

Hello, I want to update this. The backup is working again. Maybe there was an update that fixed the issue. Best regards
