Backup based on tags

Hi Proxmox community,

Is ist possible to control the PBS backup based on tags for vm's?

Example:
vm101 - tag: debian, fileserver, weekly
vm102 - tag: windows, ad, daily
vm103 - tag debian, test, none

Our idea:
PBS shall read the tags of the vm's automatically and perform the backup of the vm's accordingly.

Background:
The same function we have relaized today with vmware and VEEAM.
Due to migration ideas from vmware to PROXMOX PVE+PBS we would like to use the same function in the future.

Benefit:
Users (withput access to PBS) can define by simple tag if vm shall participate on automatic backups.

Any idea?

Hi!
sadly this is not possible right now. You could use pools but they only support a vm to be a part of a single pool, so your example won't work (https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/pve-admin-guide.html#pveum_resource_pools). There is an feature request though: https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4186
