Hi, a beginner's request.
If I add a ZFS or ext4 pool as dedicated storage for OMV or turnkey file server, can I somehow backup the files 1:1 (uncompressed, loose files)?
I wish I could read my backup directly on another PC
Thanks so much for your time
I assume turnkey implies an LX(C) container? If that's the case, then you will be able to read on another machine (if that machine supports reading ZFS or ext4)
you could pass through the physical disk directly to the guest.
This allows writing down whatever file system you like and therefore pull data directly off it.
Thanks for your suggestions.
I have a nuc where the storage disk is type m.2, problematic to extract.
For this I was wondering how to backup 1:1 to external USB drive
Apologies, don't get that. What do you mean with extract?
In the end it is a storage device (block) and therefore it is irrelevant.
Solely the filesystem/data on it defines how you can work on a PC.
I'm sorry for my bad English. I am Italian.
For example: if the nuc fails to boot or the data is compromised, I would like to have an EXTERNAL usb backup disk that I can read on another pc. I would like to simplify my life if there is a problem.
I'm very sorry if I don't write well

As far as I understand you want to create a backup of your M2 based contents, that can be read elsewhere.
Tell us more about your configuration. What is on that M2 (Filesystem, setup) because this also leads to certain options?
Are you running VMs? Containers?
If you want to be able to read things "directly on another PC" - what OS is used there? Windows? Linux? OSX?
