Backed up files not visible in "file restore"-Gui, but there when VM is restored.

Hey,

i recently destroyed a file in a VM and wanted to restore it from the "file restore"-GUI. Its located in the /home/ directory of a user.
When i select the /home/ in the GUI it seems like the folder is empty. None of its contents is displayed. Now i thought: "maybe for some privacy reason /home/directories do not get backed up" but when i fully restore the VM out of this backup all the files in the /home/ directory are there just fine.

So is this a bug or is there another way to actually do file-level-restore to files even in the /home/ dir?

Thank you guys :)

is the 'home' dir maybe a mountpoint that comes from somewhere else? e.g. another partition? in that case you have to go to that partition
if e.g. the home dir comes from a network share, this will not be included in a vm backup (since only the local disks are backed up)

its not an extra mountpoint, no

It is included in the backup. its only the in-browser-gui where i cannot see it and even when downloading the /home/ dir theres nothing in it.
when restoring the backup to a new vm though all the files are there.

maybe you use a distro with encrypted /home that is unlocked on login?

mmh, im using opensuse leap 15.5 without a desktop environment as a server. afaik theres no encryption going on for the home dir as a base setting.

but the docs say this:
https://doc.opensuse.org/documentat...nt.html#sec-sec-prot-general-home-permissions

i imagine PBS must be somehow mounting the filesystem. maybe the "mounting user" of PBS does not have permission to view /home/?!

/edit: i read that wrong, it seems by default the home folders are visible by all users
