Hi,

Wonder if someone could help.

I'm getting the following error when trying to backup a snapshot of a vm

Any help would be great full!

snapshot full? (search the forum for increasing the snapshot size via /etc/vzdump.conf)

Hi Tom,

Thanks for this, yes full snapshots, I had a quick look at the /etc/vzdump.conf and it's all set to default so size is default to 1024? from what I read.

I've read through this thread http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/12390-vzdump-conf-tweaking-backups-failing

also run
root@ns6450343:~# pvdisplay
--- Physical volume ---
PV Name /dev/md4
VG Name pve
PV Size 2.71 TiB / not usable 2.94 MiB
Allocatable yes
PE Size 4.00 MiB
Total PE 710139
Free PE 1024
Allocated PE 709115

I done 1024 * 4 = 4096

I guess I have 4gb available? I set the size to 2048mb

Do i need to restart anything to take effect?

Thanks
Paul

no need to restart anything, the next backup job will pick the setting.

2048mb is also not that big. next time please make sure that you leave more space for LVM snaphots, especially if you have big (and slow) hard disks.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the response so far. I guess the problem is the snapshot is bigger then 4096mb? I have set the size to 4096mb (max the system can do) and this still fails. I guess there is nothing else I can do other then increase the file system?

The server came from ovh.co.uk as pre setup config so never had a option to change the partitions.

What would the recommended size be for say couple vm's round 80gb ish?

Thanks
Paul
