arrangement between proxmox and ESXi

Hello everybody,

i need some information for a Projekt. What is the arrangement between Proxmox and ESXi? What does Proxmox have what ESXi not have? what is the pro for Proxmox, why should someone choose Proxmox?

The biggest difference? Open Source vs Closed Source.

Hi,
the biggest advantage is, like Tom said before, open source! It's can't repeat often enough.
With proxmox you can:
+ choose the virtualisation (container/full virtualisation)
+ choose the hardware you like (mostly), not the hardware which vmware like
+ use your linux-knowledge
+ do a life migration of a cd-bootet distro (like devil-linux)
+ use a good and fast forum
+ get support ticket (which are cheaper than vmware license fee)
and and and ...

1. Live Migrations without paying 12,000 Dollars a year!!!
2. Central Management "Clustering" without paying 12,000 Dollars a year!!!
3. Simple Linux implemtation (except for the lack of controll of the partitioning scheme)
4. OPEN-SOURCE!!!!! meaning, don't pay 12,000 dollars a year!!! (donations are nice, since these guys put together a great product)

I'm currently moving all my VMs from ESXI/ESX to Proxmox. Great gob guys.
