api endpoint for disk import

Hi,

...I was researching the possibility to find an API equivalent for:

qm disk import <vmid> <img>.qcow2 <my_ceph_pool>

Apparently this is currently not possible using the API - or did I miss something?

you can use qm set/create XXXX --scsi0 STORAGE:0,import-from=SOURCE_VOLID,... which is also available on the API using the create_vm and update_vm API endpoints

Is it only available on Proxmox version 9 ?
Because i haven't upgraded my proxmox yet - my current version is 8.3

Hi,

my current version is 8.3

while not related to the issue here, please note that this means one year without (security) updates. It's recommended to run the latest version even if you stay with Proxmox VE 8 (which is supported until the end of July 2026):
