Hi,

I have a new virtualization project. And of course I will install proxmox !

- 2 nodes cluster (No HA)
- Shared storage

Server :

2 x Dell r440 :
  • CPU : Intel Xeon Silver 4114
  • RAM : 24 Go
  • Disks : RAID 1, SSD 120 Go
  • Internal storage controler : H730P+
  • External storage controler : HBA SAS 12 gbit
Array :

Dell Compellent SCv2020 SAS :
  • disks : 7 x 300 Go SAS 15 K
  • Double controler 12 Gbits / SAS

I know that the H730P+ controler is compatible with Proxmox 5.1

My question is what about the HBA SAS 12 gbit ? Is it compatible with Proxmox ?

Here is the card :

http://www.dell.com/fr-fr/shop/adap...as/apd/405-aaes/stockage-lecteurs-et-supports

Thanks in advance.

One last thing, is multipath works with this configuration ?

Eache node will be direct attached to both array controlers :

node1 :
  • hba port1 -> scv2020 controlerA port 1
  • hba port2 -> scv2020 controlerB port 1
node2 :
  • hba port1 -> scv2020 controlerA port 2
  • hba port2 -> scv2020 controlerB port 2

Hi,

It would be nice if someone could answer my question.

Thanks.

I suggest you ask the vendor, also check the Ubuntu hardware list on https://certification.ubuntu.com/server/

(Proxmox VE uses a Ubuntu based kernel, 4.13).

Generally speaking, almost all Dell server parts works without problems on Linux, so I do not expect problems.

Thanks tom for your feedback.

I checked dell user manual of the HBA SAS 12 gbit but I'm not sur that this card is compatible with kernel 4.13 :

http://www.dell.com/support/manuals...9c17ce-b42c-418b-8a1f-08918183f520&lang=en-us

In addition, only rpm driver are published by Dell.

I check also the Ubuntu hardware list but can't find any usefull information about this card.

Is it a real problem for me.

I need to buy hardware for a customer in order to build a proxmox cluster.
So I have to be sure that the hardware will be compatible.

If I ask to dell I already know the feedback (proxmox is not supported etc .. etc ...).

How others proxmox users deal with this problem ?
