Advice need for guest drivers for Windows Server 2008 R2

Could anyone provide bare minimum list of drivers for 2008r2 , seems ballon driver gives BSOD even 2008r2 one checked with VIRTIO ISO 221
i need basic drivers for guest shutdown and maybe this drivers entries



maybe anyone can provide working VIRTIO reference for 2008r2
i installed SCSI driver, network and guest tools working fine but seems no shutdown

I've got a 2008r2 guest and all drivers of the most recent virtio iso did work, except the qemu guest agent. I tried the one from verison 0.1.137 and it works perfectly. Thanks!

Can someone please explain why on 0.1.137.iso there is no .msi file but only .vfd files......?!
(also same issue on 0.1.141.iso, the version I use with Windows 7)

Is there no virtio-win-gt-x64,msi in the root of the ISO (like there is on 0.1.229)?

Indeed. Either install each driver manually per device or try a newer version? Sorry but I have no experience with Windows 7 and older version of VirtIO. Maybe someone else can help.

EDIT: I think the questions of "explain why" can only be answered by the creators or maintainers of the VirtIO ISO. Maybe they have a forum or mailing list?

MSI installer was released since 0.1.173-2 since end 2019

It seems they removed some versions in the list, for example 0.1-59 and 0.1.181

Good point. I am using virtio 0.1.141 in a Windows 7 vm. No idea how I installed this with only vfd files and no msi files....

This is what I have installed in a Windows 7 vm :

QEMU guest agent 102.7.0
SPICE Guest Tools 0.141

And it all works great, no errors.

I used this 0.141 exe file and converted it to an ISO file, so I can then mount it in my Windows 7 vm.
