Hello everyone
As the title mentions I am trying to add the PBS as a backup option on another PVE machine, but there is no way this to happen with that root@pam user. The error I am getting is <<create storage failed: error during cfs-locked 'file-storage_cfg' operation: pbs: Cannot find datastore '/backups', check permissions and existance! (500)>> and since it is a permission error I go back to PBS server. There, exist 2 permission tabs . One on Access Control and the other at Datastore tab. There, there is no possible way to add that root@pam user as nothing from the given choices. After setting up the root@pam user and press add, nothing happens with no error or whatever. So ... how the hell can someone manage to add the root@pam from a permission level perspective to the Datastore. It just doesn t give you the possibility to do it. I run PBS ver 1.0.8
If though you first go to the access control and create a user there (by the way you only create him and doesnt give you option to give him rights as admin or similar) and afterwards try to add the newly created user to the permissions on the Datastore level then he can be added.
New Edit: It seems that avoiding having / in your Datastore path (when you fill in the options in order to add your PBS as a storage solution) made the trick but is this the case for anyone that added a PBS. You didnt type your path starting with / ????? Weird because the Datastore has been created at system level and not root level. Exists in /VMbacks and not /root/VMbackups. What I mean is that the / feels mandatory for me (except if the box implies that it will add it by itself)
PS Someone in a forum mentioned that it is always best practice to use groups for permissions and not users. There is no option for group creation though.
