Adding MD0 to LVM

Hello,

can somebody advise me how to add a MD0 (Mirrored SDB + SDC) to the LVM?

I can add a single disk and succesfully boot but when i add the mirrored SDB+SDC then the system panics at boot saying there's a "bad newroot".

What i want to achieve is:

Install on SDA (8GB solid state).

Move the data volume to the mirrored disks for redundancy.

Thanks,

Martijn

Thanks Dietmar,

i was already afraid of spending money. I tried to avoid the step...

I've searched the forum and found people using the adaptec but this is way out of my budget.

Saw a second hand:

SAS RAID 5 Controller Perc 5/i PCIe x8 for €180
LSI Logic MegaRaid 8208ELP 8-Port PCIe x4 for €200
and a
LSI Logic MegaRaid 8344ELP 8-Port PCIe x4 for €220

Where my personal preference is going to the 8344ELP

All based on the 80333 intel processor.

Any advice/words?

Thanks,

Martijn

Till now we did not have the possibility to test and validate a LSI logic but I assume they should work - do not forget to add the optional batteries to the controller. If you have 4 ports on the controller you can go for a Raid 10 - good performance.

look at this:
ADAPTEC RAID 2405 SATA/SAS x8 PCIe 4port intern
(no batteries backup and only 4 ports, but quite cheap and can do Raid10)

But please note, we never recommend controller without BBU for production use.
